If your job search has been yielding few results, it may be time for you to do something different. Finding a new job is about seeking change in your career and environment. It only makes sense that change can start from yourself and your job search strategy. Don’t settle where you are. To be successful, step outside your comfort zone to do more. Here are a few suggestions on what you can do.

Pursue knowledge and improvement

Don't put a stop to your learning and get left behind. While you are on the job search, stay up to date and ahead of your competition by taking webinars, online courses or joining workshops. You can also seek to earn other certifications that may be useful in your intended field. Meanwhile, practice and develop areas that you may have previously overlooked or made do with, like interviewing skills.

Increase experience and perspective

Don't miss out on precious opportunities while you are waiting for the right job. You can go out into the field and volunteer or work with a staffing agency to try out new things. Take on different challenges and stretch yourself. You will also have a chance to explore several careers and industries. Find opportunities to learn more about yourself and add to your experience.

Build your network

Don't be afraid to reach out to people for help and advice. Go out of your way to attend networking events that you haven't tried before. However, the focus is not on meeting as many people as you can. Find ways to connect with people and prioritize building a link that can help you grow. Networking skills are not natural to everyone, but you can improve. Learn more about networking here.

Although it may be easier to stay as you are and continue what you have been doing, the effort you put in matters. Changing your job search approach and yourself does not have to happen right away. Take small steps and learn to build your confidence slowly.
