With holiday fever and distractions-a-plenty, it is common for productivity and morale within the workplace to drop this time of year. Here are some things you can do to keep your employees motivated from late November through early January.
Recognize employees
Give your workers a little reminder that you appreciate the amount of work that they do. Leave a note on a workers desk. Send a quick thank you email. Even the smallest gesture can be greatly appreciated during a stressful time.
Organize an 'Employee Appreciation Day' or outing
Take your group out to lunch, suggest a potluck, do something that gives your employees time to take a break and get away from the daily grind. Something as simple as a little extra break time can make a huge difference in de-stressing a work environment.
Provide free food
Whether its holiday treats like cookies, or bagels to kick-start your employees mornings, everyone can agree it’s nice to have something to munch on. Or, if you want to keep your office more health conscience, bring in a fruit platter.
Have staff engage in friendly competitions
A little healthy competition is good for you – and potentially really good for the morale in your workplace. See who can hit a small sales goal or who can answer the phone with the most gusto. Put a $10 gift card on the line and let your employees do the rest.
The most important thing do to during the holiday season is to give extra attention to your employees. This will keep them feeling supported and appreciated, and in turn keep them focused on their work. What are some ways that you motivate employees?
