Celebrate Women's History Month!

Mar 10, 2015, 13:59 PM by User Not Found

Women's History Month celebrates the many contributions of women both past and present. Throughout our history, women have proven to be a strong and capable force that helped build and grow our society. When the U.S. was founded in 1776, women were allowed only menial roles in the workplace; today women comprise more than 50% of the U.S. workforce and the number of female college graduates is growing and now exceeds the number of male college graduates. More women than ever before are taking on roles of leadership within the workforce- as managers, CEOs, and founders of their own companies.

In honor of this occasion, here are 7 inspiring quotes by influential women:

"We must believe that we are gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained." - Marie Curie, Two-time Nobel Prize winner

"We cannot change what we are not aware of, and once we are aware, we cannot help but change." - Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook

"Define success on your own terms, achieve it by your own rules, and build a life you're proud to live." - Anne Sweeney, President of Walt Disney

"Don't be intimidated by what you don't know. That can be your greatest strength and ensure that you do things differently from everyone else." - Sara Blakely, Founder of Spanx - Worlds Youngest Female Billionaire

"The secret of getting ahead is getting started." - Sally Berger, Assistant Curator, Department of Film for the Museum of Modern Art

"The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me." - Ayn Rand, Novelist/Philosopher

"Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world." - Harriet Tubman, African-American abolitionist/humanitarian
