May’s job report saw a gain of 75,000 nonfarm jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ monthly employment report. There was an increase in professional and business services, and health care.
Over the past three months, job gains have averaged 151,000 per month.
May's unemployment rate remained at 3.6%, same as April. The civilian labor force participation also remained at 62.8%, same as April.
The report found that in May, average hourly earnings for employees on private, nonfarm payrolls rose by 6 cents to $27.83. Over the year, average hourly earnings have risen by 3.1%.
