March’s job report saw a gain of 196,000 nonfarm jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ monthly employment report. There was an increase in health care, professional and technical services.
Over the past three months, job gains have averaged 180,000 per month.
March’s unemployment rate stayed at 3.8%, the same as in February. The civilian labor force participation is at 63.0%, down slightly from 63.2% in February.
The report found that in March, average hourly earnings for employees on private, nonfarm payrolls rose by 4 cents to $27.70. Over the year, average hourly earnings have risen by 3.2%.
