September’s job report saw a gain of 134,000 nonfarm jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ monthly employment report. There was an increase in professional and business services, health care, transportation and warehousing.
Over the past three months, job gains have averaged 190,000 per month.
September’s unemployment rate declines to 3.7% from 3.9% in August. The civilian labor force participation remained at 62.7%.
The report found that in September, average hourly earnings for employees on private, nonfarm payrolls rose by 8 cents to $27.24. Over the year, average hourly earnings have risen by 2.8%.
