February’s job report saw a gain of 313,000 nonfarm jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ monthly employment report. There was an increase in construction, retail trade, professional and business services, manufacturing, financial activities, and mining.
Over the past three months, job gains have averaged 242,000 per month.
February’s unemployment rate remained at 4.1%, the same as January. The civilian labor force participation rose by 0.3% to 63.0%
The report found that in February, average hourly earnings for employees on private, nonfarm payrolls rose by 4 cents to $26.75. Over the year, average hourly earnings have risen by 2.6%.
