With rising temperatures and longer days happening, there's no denying that Summer is in the air. While Summer has many benefits, it can also wreak havoc on our productivity at work. When the weather is wonderful outside, it can become increasingly difficult to spend 8 productive hours at work where you are most likely in an overly air conditioned box. While it is natural for your motivation and productivity to lag a bit, there are things you can do to stay motivated. Below are 4 of our favorite tips to stay motivated this summer.
How many times have you been at work, longingly staring out the window at the beautiful weather? For most of us, it's more times than we can count. When you start experiencing this, try to take a break and get outside. This could be as simple as eating your lunch outside or taking a 10-minute walk. By getting outside, you'll be able to clear your head a bit and head back into work refreshed.
Another great way to help stay motivated this Summer is to change up your environment. If you are able to, try working from a different location when your productivity is really lagging. This could be a local coffee shop or even just another area of your office building (maybe even outside).
If Summer is really getting your productivity down, try adjusting your hours if your company allows flexible hours. You may realize that after 3pm your productivity starts lagging, but at 7am, you're at prime productivity. Try talking to your manager about adjusting your hours a little this summer or even the possibility of taking summer Fridays.
One final thing you can do to stay motivated is to take some time off. Many think that the only way to be productive at work is to be there every day without days off but this could not be farther from the truth. In fact, taking vacation can allow you to decompress a bit and return to work motivated and refreshed. This year, try and schedule a vacation for you to get away from and unplug the office (even if it's just a long weekend staycation). Learn more about how to unplug during vacation here.
Staying motivated at work during the Summer isn't the easiest task but it is possible. How do you stay motivated during the summer?
