February’s job report saw an increase of 235,000 nonfarm jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ monthly employment report. Jobs gains were in construction, private educational services, manufacturing, health care, and mining.
Over the past three months, job gains have averaged 209,000 per month.
February’s unemployment rate was little changed at 4.7%, down from 4.8% in January. The civilian labor force participation rate rose slightly to 63.0%.
The report found that in February, average hourly earnings for employees on private, nonfarm payrolls increased by 6 cents to $26.09. Over the year, average hourly earnings have risen by 2.8%.
