November’s job report saw an increase of 178,000 nonfarm jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ monthly employment report. Job continued to trend up in health care and professional and business services.
So far in 2016, job gains have averaged 180,000 per month, compared with an average monthly increase of 229,000 in 2015.
November’s unemployment rate has declined to 4.6%, down from 4.9% in October. The civilian labor force participation rate also decreased slightly to 62.7%, down from 62.8% in October.
The report found that in November, average hourly earnings for employees on private, nonfarm payrolls decreased by 3 cents to $25.89. Over the year, average hourly earnings have risen by 2.5%.
