3 Things You Have to Do at a QPS Job Fair

Sep 07, 2016

Attending a QPS Job Fair for the first time can be an intimidating task. What do you say? What do you bring? How prepared do you need to be? While every QPS job fair will vary from previous ones, there are a few things that you can expect and prepare for no matter what. Breeze your way through your next QPS job fair by remembering these things.

Bring a Resume

While to some this may seem obvious, having an updated resume to hand to the recruiter is something that we appreciate and can help the whole process move forward. This will help you start out on the right foot and make a great first impression. Having a resume gives us a summary of your experience right away and can help us direct our questions to you based off of that, plus it will give you something to fall back on if the nerves get the best of you. You can expect our QPS recruiter to go over your experience a bit with you and ask some simple questions about how it relates to what you’re looking for. While the recruiter may not do a deep dive into your resume, you can expect us to go more into the details at your first interview at our office. If you don't have a resume yet, check out some of our tips for writing one here.

Dress to Impress

Set yourself apart from the crowd by choosing your clothes wisely. While you don’t need to be dressed in full formal attire (a clean and appropriate shirt will often suffice), it is nice to be handed a resume or have a handshake with a well-dressed individual. It not only shows that you are taking the event seriously, but can also give you the little confidence boost you need to make the most out of the job fair. Another reason why dressing appropriately is important is that it shows us how you will represent yourself and QPS at one of our client companies. When you show up dressed poorly, we often are not sure how you will represent yourself when we send you out to a client. So, before you head to your next job fair, take a moment to choose your outfit wisely.

Know What You're Looking For

The final thing to make sure you do at the job fair is to articulate the type of work or job you are interested in. When you walk in without an answer to this question, it will make you look unprepared and make the whole QPS hiring process take longer. Spend a little time before the job fair to figure out what exactly you're looking for. While you don't need a super specific and detailed answer, knowing the type of position or work you would like to do, like a temp to hire warehouse or general labor position, will show that you are serious and can help us find the perfect fit for you instead of sending you assignments you’re not interested in.

Remembering to do these 3 things will not only make you feel prepared for the job fair, but will also allow you to get the most out of the experience and working with us. Find a QPS Job Fair near you here.
