How does your company promote work-life balance for its employees? “Flexibility is a big part of work-life balance here. While many of our positions do require in-office work, we try to be as flexible as possible when scheduling. For examples, we have some employees work on the weekends so they can be involved in their children’s sports during the week. If the position allows it, we have employees working remotely who live in different states than our offices are in, which was something that we never did prior to 2020. We have a generous PTO plan, which, should an employee choose, can be cashed out at certain levels if the employee would prefer. Our employee assistance plan offers legal, mental health and family services, some at no cost to the employee. We have an internal Yammer page where employees are encouraged to share what’s happening in their lives with their families, pets or friends.”

What are the most popular perks you offer to employees? “As an employee-owned company, QPS is able to offer the Employee Stock Ownership Plan, which for many is viewed as a second 401(k) option that is 100% company-paid. Another popular perk is our employee length of service awards - $500 at five years of service, $2,000 for a trip at 10 years, $3,000 for a trip at 15, a Rolex watch at 20 years and $5,000 for 25 and every five years after. Our internal referral bonus and tuition reimbursement are also popular options.”

Many businesses are seeing employees leaving for various reasons. What are you doing to increase retention at your company? “QPS routinely holds listening sessions with our executive team where employees are able to address any concerns or issues. In addition, our managers hold regular feedback sessions with all employees. Since becoming employee-owned, QPS has also started sharing more financial information, so employees know how well the company is doing, which in turn affects the share price of the ESOP. We have also increased the flexibility in schedules and allowed more people to work remotely if their position allows it.”

How would you pitch your company to a potential hire? “Everything that we do at QPS is guided by our six beliefs - family spirit, passion, collaboration, legacy, high-touch and innovation. As an employee-owned company, we have a financial stake. Our employees truly care about making the company successful and the company a great place to work. If you are looking for a company where your opinions are heard and you are able to truly make a difference in people’s lives, then QPS is the best staffing firm to work at.”
