Frequently Asked Questions

You’ve got questions. We’ve got answers.

After more than 30 years in business, we’ve been asked just about everything imaginable about staffing. This FAQ includes most of our greatest hits, but if you’re still left wondering about anything at all, feel free to contact anytime day or night.

I’ve never used a staffing service before. What are the benefits?

At QPS, we partner with hundreds of companies throughout the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic, and often recruit for positions that are unadvertised and unavailable through other channels. Our highly experienced team is committed to helping you find a position and employer that’s the best match for your skills and interests.

Will I be charged a fee to use your service?

No, you will never be charged for using our services.

How do I apply for a job through QPS?

Simply visit the Job Seeker section of our site. There, you’ll be able to search a huge selection of openings, and apply for any number of temporary, temp-to-hire, and direct-hire opportunities. You can also call your local QPS branch, and set up a time to come in to meet with a placement coordinator.

What kind of jobs do you offer?

We place qualified individuals into a wide range of jobs, including industrial, technical, office, and professional.

What does temp-to-hire mean?

Temp-to-hire means you’ve been assigned to a job assignment, with the possibility of being hired on by the client company. As a temporary employee, you’ll be working for QPS Employment Group until the client decides to hire you as part of their permanent workforce. Some Associate Employees stay with the same company for years while remaining on the QPS payroll, others are hired by the client after just a few weeks.

What does direct-hire mean?

Direct hire means that QPS is evaluating candidates for a job with one of our clients. If we think your skills and experience are a good fit, we’ll check with you to see if you would be interested in the job. If you are, we then forward your information to our client for consideration. QPS will then work with you and our client to schedule interviews. If our client decides to make you an offer, and you accept, you’ll work directly for the client. We merely facilitate the hiring process.

How many times should I check in regarding my availability for work?

This is dependent on the position you’re seeking. Your recruiter will let you know the appropriate number of times you should check in.

How can I increase my chances of obtaining a position with you?

Fill out your application carefully and completely, and explain any gaps in your employment history to the recruiter with whom you speak. Project a positive attitude when interviewing, and keep your contact information accurate so we can reach you easily.

What if I am not interested in a certain position when it is offered; is it all right to turn it down?

On occasion, you may be presented an opportunity that doesn’t meet your expectations. If you’re not interested in that particular job, you’re always free to decline. We’ll continue to offer positions to you based on your skills and preferences.

What if I am on an assignment and decide it is not for me?

We realize that not every position is a good fit for you; sometimes you do not know that until you have tried the position. If you are on a job and find it is not going to work for you, we ask that you contact us immediately. You may be asked to stay long enough for us to find a replacement, but we will attempt to remedy the situation as quickly as possible. As with any interaction, communication is the key. We expect open communication from you, and you can expect the same from QPS.

Who determines the pay rate I am paid?

The pay rates we offer are dictated by our clients. We pay our employees the rate our clients allow us to bill. Pay levels vary at each company and are based on location, job description, candidate experience, and market conditions.

What kind of benefits do you offer to temporary and temp-to-hire employees?

Eligible employees at QPS are provided with a wide range of benefits, including health insurance, holiday pay, and referral bonuses. Your recruiter will let you know what benefits you may be eligible for.

Do I need a resume?

We recommend that you bring a resume or written job history along with you, so our recruiters can more quickly and easily place you in an appropriate open position. However, you are not required to bring a resume with you to QPS when filling out an initial job application. If you don’t have a resume currently, and would like help preparing one, we’re happy to be of assistance.
