QPS Employment Group currently has over 2,000 openings companywide for people looking for all levels of employment, primarily in manufacturing. The recruiting firm specializes in industrial, office/clerical, skilled trades and professional staffing.
"Many of our open positions can be filled by individuals with little to no actual manufacturing experience," explained Ryan Festerling, president and chief operating officer at QPS. "Whether you have a manufacturing background or are a service industry employee who is out of work, many of our jobs can be filled by someone with just a willingness to learn and be trained to work in a new industry. Basic light industrial positions like warehouse and assembly do not often require a large amount of training and new employees can often pick up the skills needed quickly.”
Specifically in the Evansville area, QPS works with ten main companies. Those companies are hiring for hundreds of open positions. We are immediately hiring for production associate, shipping and receiving, packing, material handling and industrial painter, among others. Our pay rates range from $11 to $14 per hour. The local office is located at 580 E. Diamond Avenue and can be reached at 812-422-7570.
"For a service industry worker, a manufacturing job may not initially seem like a fit. When we explain the position details and that pay is much more competitive than expected, applicants realize this career may have more benefits than even a prior service position, " added Festerling. “Many workers in manufacturing may not have to work late nights, weekends or holidays like the service industry workers are used to.”
While a number of companies have slowed down, QPS reports that many other industries are busier than ever. Businesses such as grocery distributors, food manufacturers and companies who supply paper and other sanitary supplies have seen the greatest need to add staff.
With the additional $600 unemployment stimulus benefit no longer available, more job seekers are looking to return to the workforce. “Many of our clients have been considered essential businesses and have been hiring since the pandemic started, but we are anticipating that the loss of this additional income will entice more workers to begin actively seeking new employment,” Festerling stated. “Those who claimed the additional stimulus were in some cases making more on unemployment than at their actual jobs and had no incentive to return to actual employment.”
