Friday, October 4th is Manufacturers’ Day, a day set aside to celebrate modern manufacturing as well as inspire the next generation of manufacturers in the United States. In celebration of this day, QPS Employment Group is hosting an Open Interview Day from 8am-5pm at each of their nearly 50 Midwest branch offices.
With this day-long hiring push, QPS is looking to fill over 2,000 current openings throughout the company, many of which are in the manufacturing field. “We have numerous positions open at various skill levels,” states QPS president and chief operating officer, Ryan Festerling. “We have everything from short term positions for those looking to supplement their current income, to those seeking full-time positions who are currently working and looking for perhaps a career change.”
Festerling adds, “One of the greatest needs in our workforce right now are those candidates who wish to work in manufacturing. As job growth continues and unemployment numbers remain low, help wanted signs and online postings are plentiful. This competition for talent is also forcing companies to raise their pay rates and benefits to attract and retain the best candidates.”
The August national unemployment rate was listed at 3.7 percent, with many areas in the Midwest seeing even lower rates than that. The U.S. unemployment rate has steadily declined over the past ten years since it reached ten percent in October of 2009. Furthermore, every day 10,000 new baby boomers retire and will continue to do so for the next 11 years. Many of these boomers currently fill skilled manufacturing positions, so career opportunity in this field is high.
QPS has light industrial, skilled, office and professional positions open in a variety of industries, including warehouse, food production, metal fabrication and electronics as well as other consumer based good manufacturers.
