2024 State of the Profession Survey: Skills, Salary and Satisfaction

This month, Quality Magazine, a print and media organization focused on manufacturing professionals, released the results from their 2024 State of the Profession Survey.

As in years past, Clear Seas Research conducted the study on behalf of Quality in order to look at trends in compensation, work hours, job constraints, overall job satisfaction as well as provide a demographic profile of industry professionals. Here are some of the highlights:

Top concerns of manufacturing professionals over the next 12 months

  • Skilled Labor Shortage – 50%
  • Supply Chain Interruptions – 47%
  • Current Economy / Inflation – 43%
  • Quality Compliance Initiatives – 39%

Top factors driving job satisfaction

  • Job Duties – 91%
  • Company’s Commitment to Quality – 83%
  • Work Environment – 79%
  • Salary – 79%
  • Benefits – 76%

Regarding pay, sixty-three percent of respondents saw their salary increase from last year, by an average of 5%. Along those lines, 63% expect a salary increase after their next performance review.
