3 Things to Do During Your QPS Interview

Sep 14, 2016, 08:31 AM by Jessica Calliari

After you submit an application through our website or at one of our hiring events, the next step is to have an interview at your local branch office with one of our recruiters. Our recruiters will work with you to schedule a time for the interview that works for both of you. During this interview, the recruiter will discuss your experience and what you're looking for, as well as get to know you so we can find you the perfect fit. While you will spend time filling out paperwork (remember to bring your IDs) and other housekeeping tasks, there are some things you should be prepared to do. Get the most out of your QPS interview by remembering these 3 things.

Step Up Your Outfit

For your office interview with us, it is important to show up dressed well and like you want to be there. By showing up to your interview dressed in appropriate clothes, it gives us a better idea of how you will represent yourself at one of our client companies. It will start the interview out on the right foot and give us confidence that you will represent yourself and QPS well at any client company we send you to. Keep in mind that this doesn’t mean you need to show up in a suit if you’re interviewing for an industrial position. Clean jeans and a nice shirt are totally acceptable for those types of interviews.

Know Your Job History

The next thing that you need to do during your QPS interview is to know your job history. While you may not remember all of the details about the first job you had 6 years ago, you should be able to still have a conversation about it. Our recruiters want to be able to discuss your job history with you in enough detail that we can get an understanding about your experience and qualifications. Having a resume with you is an easy way to help you get through this part of the interview in case you freeze up during it. However, having a resume is not required and our recruiters will work with you to create one if you don't have one.

Explain Your Gaps

The other important thing that you should do during your QPS interview is to explain any employment gaps you have. After going through your work history, the recruiter will ask you to explain any gaps in employment you have. For this questions, “I don't know” is not an acceptable answer. An employment gap is not something that will hurt your chances and is not something we will hold against you, we just ask for an explanation for it. This could be anything from taking time off to raise your kids, go back to school or to get your life on track. Whatever your reason is, just be open and honest with your recruiter. By doing this, we will be able to help you figure out the best way to present it to potential employers.

Your QPS interview is step 1 on the road to a new assignment. Make the most of it by being prepared and putting your best foot forward. Find a QPS branch near you here.
