November’s Job Report: Rate remains at 5.0%

November’s job report saw an increase of 211,000 nonfarm jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ monthly employment report. Job gains occurred in construction, professional and technical services, and healthcare. Mining and information lost jobs. Over the past three months, job gains have averaged 218,000 per month.
November’s job report saw an increase of 211,000 nonfarm jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ monthly employment report. Job gains occurred in construction, professional and technical services, and healthcare. Mining and information lost jobs. Over the past three months, job gains have averaged 218,000 per month.  

November’s unemployment rate remained unchanged from 5.0% in October. The civilian labor force participation rate, at 62.5 percent, changed little in November.

The report found that in November, average hourly earnings for employees on private, nonfarm payrolls rose to $25.25. Over the year, average hourly earnings have risen by 2.3%.
