Rate Drops as Temps Rise

June's job report sees an increase of 223,000 nonfarm jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' monthly employment report. Job gains occurred in professional and business services, health care, retail trade,financial activities, and in transportation and warehousing.

June's job report sees an increase of 223,000 nonfarm jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' monthly employment report. Job gains occurred in professional and business services, health care, retail trade,financial activities, and in transportation and warehousing.

June's unemployment rate declined to 5.3% from May's 5.5%. The number of unemployed persons declined by 375,000 to 8.3 million. 

The report found that in June, average hourly earnings for employees on private, nonfarm payrolls rose by 2 cents. Over the year, average hourly earnings have risen by 2%.
