Networking Do's and Don'ts (Part I)

Networking Do's and Don'ts- Part One

It's not always about what you know, but who you know.  Networking is something that has become essential to be successful in today's business world.  Here is a brief list of what you should and should not do while networking.

Don't wait.  Don't wait until you are jobless to start networking.  Now is the best time to build good relationships with co-workers, clients, etc.  You never know when you may need their help.

Don't be unprepared.  Always be on your "A" game, especially if you are going to a chamber event or networking social hour.  Know what it is you are looking for.  Practice your sales pitch....why should this person want to hire you in the future?  And most importantly, take your business card with you!

Don't use unprofessional email addresses.  Leave the cutesy email addresses for your friends.  A potential employer is not going to be impressed by "HotMama94" email.  Stick to using your name for an email address.
