Increasingly, Milwaukee-area staffing firms are seeing signs of a rebound, but are guarded about whether the recent boost in business will last.
Even as business confidence rebounds from the lengthy economic recession, many companies remain hesitant to hire permanent, full-time workers, local staffing executives said. However, as the economy gains strength and demand for goods and services grows, work needs to get done, leaving many businesses turning to temporary employees.
In fact, some economic observers believe growth in temporary staffing is one of the first indicators of an economic recovery.
Revenue at Brookfield-based QPS Employment Group jumped 20 percent in January compared with the same month a year ago, said Mark Immekus, executive vice president and chief sales officer.
